Nikki Platt

Nikki Platt BVSc MRCVS

Nikki graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2006 and began her career in first-opinion equine practice in Cheshire. She first joined Oakhill Equine Vets to cover Rosie’s maternity leave before moving on to ambulatory lameness work across North Wales and Shropshire, followed by a locum Sports Medicine Residency at Leahurst. Nikki returned to Oakhill in 2018 to cover Rosie’s second maternity leave and, thankfully for us, never left!

Nikki has a particular interest in lameness, poor performance and rehabilitation. She has also worked as a vet at British Eventing events and international driving trials, giving her valuable experience in the world of equestrian sport.

Nikki believes that being a good vet means empathising with clients’ concerns and supporting and educating them throughout the treatment process. Her priority is always to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient while promoting the highest standards of animal welfare.

Outside of work, Nikki enjoys eventing (although she doesn’t currently have a horse of her own), water skiing and snow skiing. She shares her life with two dogs, Oreo, a Jack Russell Terrier, and Bella, an English Springer Spaniel. And after a busy day, she’s equally happy relaxing with some well-earned downtime!
