PARASITES DON’T TAKE A WINTER HOLIDAY!

As the weather cools and we swap long summer walks for cosy evenings indoors, it’s easy to assume that fleas, ticks and worms are less of a concern. But parasites don’t simply disappear when summer ends! Keeping your pet protected throughout the year is an important part of maintaining their health, whatever the season.

FLEAS CAN THRIVE INDOORS

Central heating provides the warmth fleas need to survive and reproduce, meaning your home can become the perfect environment for them all year round. Even pets who spend most of their time indoors can pick up fleas, and once an infestation takes hold, it can be difficult to get under control.

WORMS DON’T FOLLOW THE SEASONS

Worms can affect pets throughout the year, and some infections may cause few obvious signs in the early stages. Depending on the parasite, pets can become infected through contaminated soil, faeces, prey or other animals. Some worms can also pose a risk to people, particularly children.

TICKS ARE STILL A POSSIBILITY

Although tick activity is often highest during warmer months, ticks can remain active during milder spells in autumn and winter. They can attach to pets during walks through long grass, woodland and other outdoor areas.

STAY PROTECTED THE EASY WAY!

Our 365 Care Plan helps make routine preventative healthcare easier to manage, with prescription flea, tick and worm treatments included as part of the plan. Members also benefit from regular health checks and discounts on a range of treatments and services.

If you’re unsure whether your pet’s current parasite protection is suitable, or you’ve missed a dose, speak to our team. We’ll be happy to help you get their protection back on track.

REMEMBER:

Parasites don’t take the winter off, so keeping up with your pet’s preventative care is important in every season!
