Kate Vincent RVN
We asked one of our amazing Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN), Kate Vincent, a few questions about why she became an RVN and why she loves working with Animals; here’s what she said.
“I Studied veterinary nursing at myerscough college in Billsborrow whilst working for abbey veterinary centre which is now Oakhill Vets.
I decided that veterinary nursing was the job for me at a very young age as I love animals of all kinds, but was also brought up in a family that helped injuried wildlife and was encouraged to learn all about them. I also wanted a job of varied skills and enjoy not knowing how my day will progress also that every day is very different and I never stop learning new things.
I have two pet cats of my own, Maybel and George, both strays that had been abandoned.
I enjoy every aspect of my job but my passion lies in cat behaviour and anything cat related. I also enjoy the anaesthesia and surgical nursing aspect of my job.
The best part for me is of course cuddling kittens, and seeing patients that may have once been very ill recovering and coming back in happy and healthy.
In my spare time I like to socialise with friends and family, do a little gardening and explore the outdoors. I also enjoy cooking and arts and crafts.
If I could be any animal for the day it would be a cheetah its my favourite of the big cats, I think you’ll agree they are very beautiful and elegant.”
