Geoff Baines

Geoff Baines

Geoff qualified from Liverpool University in 1979 and started his veterinary career in a mixed animal practice in Barnsley. He couldn’t stay away from Lancashire for long and joined Barry in Preston in 1980. He is a keen fisherman and also enjoys a round of golf.

David Catlow

David Catlow

David joined the practice immediately after qualifying from Liverpool University in 1987. For many years David has been a keen member of the British Veterinary Association which is the national representative body for the veterinary profession. In 2006 David became president of the British Veterinary Association and works tirelessly to promote and represent the profession.

Peter Acton

Peter Acton

Peter qualified from Liverpool University and joined the practice in 1990. He has a special interest in equine lameness and orthopaedic surgery. He has hunted with the Vale of Lune Harriers and competed at Wembley at the Horse of the Year Show. He now spends more time playing squash, rugby and wake boarding on the River Wyre.

Alistair Kirkham

Alistair Kirkham

Alistair also qualified from Liverpool in 1984 and spent the early part of his career in a mixed animal practice in the Cotswolds before moving to a practice in Swindon. He later joined the team at Oakhill in 1989. He is a seasoned traveller and an experienced golfer.

Judith Lee

Judith Lee

Judith joined the practice in 1993 after qualifying from Glasgow University. She often has to use her veterinary skills at home on the family beef and sheep unit located in the picturesque Trough of Bowland. Judith has a keen interest in small animal medicine and surgery, farm animal practice and equine medicine.

Peter Holland

Peter Holland

As a student Peter saw practice at Oakhill and joined the practice in 2001 after graduating from the Royal Veterinary College, London. He has a particular interest in equine ophthalmology and equine medicine, and is enrolling on a RCVS Certificate of Equine Practice this autumn. He is a keen road racing cyclist and competes in road races and cyclocross events across the North of England.

Camilla Jones

Camilla Jones

Camilla joined the practice after graduating from Cambridge University in 2003. She is an experienced showjumper and breeder, so you may bump into her at local shows. Camilla relishes the challenge of working with lame horses and is currently studying towards a RCVS Certificate of Equine Practice. Camilla is also a member of the British Equine Veterinary Association Council.

Tracey Taylor

Tracey Taylor

After graduating from Liverpool University, Tracey worked in mixed practice before she returned to Liverpool University Large Animal Hospital and completed an internship. Tracey joined the team at Oakhill in 2007.

Matthew Robin

Matthew Robin Matthew joined the practice in the summer of 2007 after graduating form Bristol University. He is a keen rower, but has returned to the north so that he can pursue his first passion of walking and climbing in the Lake District. He is not a stranger to veterinary practice in Lancashire as he is the son of George Robin who has been a large animal practitioner in the region for many years.

Barry Johnson (Retired)

After qualifying from Liverpool University in 1969 Barry worked as a veterinary assistant before he started his own business in 1973. That business has undergone a number of changes over the years and today thrives as Oakhill Veterinary Centre, and the two sister practices of Abbey Veterinary Centre. Barry is also an important figure in the politics and business world of the veterinary profession and in 1993 held the prestigious role of President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons which is the regulating body of the veterinary profession in the UK.

Barry retired from Oakhill Veterinary Centre in September 2007.
