Fleas are a very common problem for dogs and cats! These tiny pests are much more than an annoyance, they make life miserable by disrupting your household with a vicious cycle of biting and scratching not only your pets but your family as well.
The flea season tends to be during the warmer months of the year however due to central heating and fitted carpets we now see fleas breeding throughout the year, turning them into an all-year-round problem.
Although adult fleas are the cause of most clinical flea problems, they do only represent 5% of the total population, the other 95% being the immature eggs and larvae of the adult fleas, which live in your pet's environment (bedding, carpets, furniture etc).
Fleas can affect your pet's health in a number of ways but the most common is by causing, flea allergy dermatitis. This is where your pet can develop an allergic skin reaction to the flea saliva/dirt which can cause severe itching and irritation.
There are a number of products available to kill the fleas/larvae both on your pet and in the environment.
We recommend using Frontline or Frontline Combo on your pet as well as an environmental control in the form of an aerosol spray for your furniture and carpets.
