Equine Infectious Anaemia NEWS
Horse owners may wish to be aware that this week Defra confirmed two cases of Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) in two horses in Wiltshire following importation from Romania.
The premises in Wiltshire are currently under restriction and the two infected horses will be humanely destroyed in line with existing regulations.
The disease is normally spread by biting insects and the risk of it spreading to other horses is considered to be very low. It is however a potentially very serious disease in horses, and we wish to make owners aware of it.
