Controlling Infectious Disease is crucial to maintaining healthy, productive cows. We carry out regular disease testing to screen herds for infectious disease and this allows us to put in place a control plan that suits you.
We routinely screen herds for BVD, IBR, Lepto, Johnes and Liver Fluke. In addition we also test for Neospora, Salmonella and Ostertagia (gut worms) for certain clients. The type of test often depends on the disease we are testing for but include:
· Bulk Milk Antibody Testing e.g. BVD, IBR, Lepto, Liver Fluke
· Individual Cow Milk Antibody Testing e.g. Johnes
· Individual Cow Blood Antibody Testing e.g. Neospora
· Faecal Egg Counts e.g. Liver Fluke
Control plans involving further testing, vaccination and targeted herd management can then be put in place to suit your objectives.
We also work closely with the VLA, through the Herdwise Scheme, and with both NMR and CIS to enable us to find the best solution for you.
