At Oakhill we are very proud of our team of veterinary surgeons. One of the most important things that we like to offer our clients is consistency. The members of the vet team rarely changes and this allows us to get to know you and your animals, allowing us to provide the best possible service to you as an individual.

David Catlow

David Catlow

Partner 

David joined the practice immediately after qualifying from Liverpool University in 1987. For many years David has been a keen member of the British Veterinary Association which is the national representative body for the veterinary profession. In 2006 David became president of the British Veterinary Association and works tirelessly to promote and represent the profession.

Judith Lee

Judith Lee

Partner 

Judith joined the practice in 1993 after qualifying from Glasgow University. She often has to use her veterinary skills at home on the family beef and sheep unit located in the picturesque Trough of Bowland.

Judith has a keen interest in small animal medicine and surgery, farm animal practice and equine medicine.

Peter Acton

Peter Acton

Partner 

Peter qualified from Liverpool University and joined the practice in 1990. He has a special interest in equine lameness and orthopaedic surgery. He has hunted with the Vale of Lune Harriers and competed at Wembley at the Horse of the Year Show. He now spends more time playing squash, rugby and wake boarding on the River Wyre.

Tracey Taylor

After graduating from Liverpool University, Tracey worked in mixed practice before she returned to Liverpool University Large Animal Hospital and completed an internship. Tracey joined the team at Oakhill in 2007 and now actively runs our farm animal sector.

Geoff Baines

Geoff Baines

Geoff qualified from Liverpool University in 1979 and started his veterinary career in a mixed animal practice in Barnsley. He couldn’t stay away from Lancashire for long and joined Barry in Preston in 1980. He is a keen fisherman and also enjoys a round of golf.

Alistair Kirkham

Alistair Kirkham

Alistair also qualified from Liverpool in 1984 and spent the early part of his career in a mixed animal practice in the Cotswolds before moving to a practice in Swindon. He later joined the team at Oakhill in 1989. He is a seasoned traveller and an experienced golfer.

Rosie Owen

Rosie Owen

Rosie joined the practice in February 2012, having just completed a 3-year residency programme in equine surgery at the University of Liverpool, Leahurst. Rosie has a special interest in lameness diagnosis and management and all aspects of equine surgery. She gained her RCVS certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) last summer and is looking forward to establishing a surgical caseload at Oakhill.

In her spare time, Rosie enjoys spending time with her young Connemara X. ‘Chandler Bing’ and her highly energetic Springer Spaniel ‘Gwanwyn’. Having grown up in the hills of North Wales she enjoys the outdoors, and has a passion for developing her snowboarding skills!

 

Alison Fairburn

Alison Fairburn

Alison joined the practice and our experienced equine team in December 2009 after completing an internship in equine orthopedics and imaging at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket and a period of locuming in North Yorkshire.

Alison's main interest is in lameness and diagnostic imaging and she is currently working towards a certificate in equine orthopedic surgery.

In her spare time Alison enjoys riding her horses, hunting and walking her labrador 'Custard'.

Suzanne Green

Suzanne Green

Suzanne joined our equine team in November 2010 after graduating from Edinburgh University.

In her spare time, Suzanne enjoys competing in triathlons, riding her horse 'Tobago' and walking her labrador puppy 'Blue'.

Karen Hurst

Karen Hurst

Karen joined our equine and small animal team in November 2010. She graduated from Liverpool in 2007 and has previously worked within mixed animal practices but over the last 18 months has focused on small animal and equine care.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys horse riding and travelling when possible.

Olga Klecandova

Olga Klecandova

Olga joined our experienced equine team in May 2011 when she moved to the UK from her home in the Czech Republic. 

Olga is very experienced and during her time as a student participated in many externships at equine hospitals all over the world including Switzerland, USA, Ireland and Belgium. Since qualifying she has travelled even further afield and worked for a year as a mixed vet in Australia before returning home and working in a busy small animal emergency practice. 

In her spare time Olga loves horse riding, other sports and in the winter months skiing. She also loves to travel which is clear from her vast worldwide veterinary experience.

Craig Stalker

Craig Stalker

Craig joined our equine team in June 2011 after moving to the UK from his home in New Zealand.

He has a wide experience in equine, farm and small animal veterinary care. In his spare time, Craig likes playing sports and hopes to do some travelling around Europe.

Sam Baker

Sam Baker

Sam is the newest member of our veterinary team having joined us in August 2011 after graduating from Liverpool University.

Sam is a local lass whom many of you will remember from her days of being a student with us. Sam's already been a hit on yards and farms with her knowledge, enthusiasm and practical approach. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horses and going out.
